Who Pays the Medical Bills in a Car Accident?

Return to FAQ Videos

Transcript:

A lot of times, victims of truck wrecks or car wrecks will come to me and say, “Well, I don’t have health insurance” or “I don’t have the ability to pay for my doctor bills, is the other side going to pay those medical expenses?” And, what I tell them is that, “In Texas, the other side is not going to help with you with those medical expenses, that they are generally going to make a one-time payment at the end of the case. And they are going to require that you sign a release in exchange for that payment.”

Now, this is something that if you need help getting to a doctor, getting medical treatment, this is something that our office does for our clients. The insurance company is not going to pay as you go, so to speak, or pay this doctor bill or that doctor bill. They’re only going to make a one-time payment. So many times we do help our clients get the medical treatment that they need.
